If my friend joins after the league starts, what happens?

I told me friend about this site and he is super interested in joining. Would he be able to join a league if the games start tomorrow?

Bots are holding spots for future teams right now, just in terms of league wins and losses.

Yes, if you take a look at some of the divisions that are in the bottom of the list are filled with bots. All players that will join late will be replacing those divisions one by one.
