Trying to sign a new player, says I've got 7 players + 1 bid when I haven't bid for someone, any help?

I had the exact same problem earlier today, Have 7 players signed and no bids, yet when i try to make one i get the 7 players + 1 Bid Restriction. I had to fire a player just to be able to make that offer, but I am effectively only allowed 7 players now when I have room for 8. Anyone else running into this issue?
