Team Icons

I find the team icons to be really lovely and really well done. Props to Markus Härma.
BUT, do they REALLY fit as a team icon?
I personally think these pictures would fit better in larger sizes (like as a background image, where players can buy that to replace the Karthus background.)

In my opinion, a team icon should be like a symbol, or something recognizable even if it is small (icon sized.)

I feel that Markus' artworks are kindda wasted when reduced to icon size. Right now they just look like a blob of a certain color.

I would like to get more feedback about this topic. What do others think? In a way there quite similar to summoners icons in LoL as their also quite graphical.

just give us the option to upload a team icon by our own.
Maybe make that option 50credits to unlock or something like that.

I agree, they are too tiny for such advanced artwork. Team icons are supposed to be shields and animals. "Just" give us a few options like text, color, shield/mascot whatever, so everyone can have personal icons, without any uploads.

I also rly like the pictures but i would use it for something else (no idea on that tho :/ ). A small editor with a few options (+ credit buyables or overall bigger options with credits) would be way better tho i have no idea how hard it is to implement.

Yeah, I do agree the team icons don't really feel like "team icons"

I think allowing us to upload small team icons for x credits on our own is also a good idea, but should obviously be only something to worry about once the server is stable enough to handle this.

Being able to upload your own icons would be very good and beneficial to the player in helping relate to the team they are running. Obviously this comes with a truck load of issues but should be somewhat considered. Another solution would be an icon/logo maker where you can select components and colours and create your own logo from these. (Think EU4 custom flag chooser or COD Tag maker)

I agree with Prec. Making it possible to personalize your own team in any way, is definetely something I value. Making it possible to create your own logo would be way more awesome, than taking in an already readymade one.
Right now I find it rather hard to make your team "your own" since there's very limited options to personalize your team.
- I think these following ideas are somewhat easy to add, yet, they'll give the opportunity to attach more to your own team and making it feel like your own rather than just a team name:
- Flags (where the team is based? Nationality wise)
- Maybe designing your own player kits (Like Hattrick, nothing fancy)
- As Prec wrote, making it possible to design your own logo. (for credits if needed).
It doesn't sound like much, but I really think that creates a "this is my team"-feeling rather than just having decided your own teamname :)

I really like the flag idea. Its great to assign your team to a certain region.

However, I am still skeptical about designing your own stuff right now. Since you need to upload them to the server, they may cause an overload on data storage.

Im still trying to recover from the Great Reddit Hug of Death PTSD LOL.

As others have said, it's obviously a big undertaking to allow uploading of icons. I do agree with OP though that the "icons" currently available are pretty Meh as far as team icons go. I love the idea of being able to choose a color and pick from various imagery and shape and type options to make a semi-custom logo, but I'm not a web designer and have no idea what that would require.

Long story short, something that would let team owners create some sort of identity or brand for their team would make this feel a lot better than it already does.

giving us the option to upload our own logo (its prolly something around 100x100pixels) shouldnt be too storage intense as such a picture is not very big in size.

Custom icons would be great. I would make one for my team and it would be unique, really cool feature.

Alright guys, most probably we will add a new item to the store that will allow you to upload a custom team icon. This will happen after we have optimised the game.

Just came in to see why this isn't an option and its then confirmed as upcoming. Gotta say that I'm excited to personalize my team more.
